Grenada back in fold for Zimbabwe visit

ST JOHN’S, Antigua,  CMC – Grenada’s National Stadium will host international cricket for the first time in four years when Zimbabwe tour the Caribbean next year.

The West Indies Cricket Board confirmed this week that that West Indies will resume Test cricket with the embattled African nation, with a a month long series that includes two Test matches, three One-Day Internationals and two Twenty20 Internationals.

In a tour that runs from February 20 to March 20, Grenada will host all three ODIs while the T20 doubleheader is scheduled for Vivian Richards Cricket Ground in Antigua.

The two Test matches played at Kensington Oval in Barbados and Windsor Park in Dominica.

Grenada’s National Stadium last hosted international cricket when West Indies entertained Bangladesh in the second Test of the controversial tour three years ago.

The tour will also see West Indies facing Zimbabwe in Tests for the first time in nine years though they played each other in a limited overs series in the Caribbean in 2010.

ITINERARY:

February 20: Zimbabwe v UWI Vice Chancellor’s XI, Grenada (venue to be confirmed)
February 22: 1st ODI – Grenada National Stadium, Grenada
February 24: 2nd ODI – Grenada National Stadium, Grenada
February 26: 3rd ODI – Grenada National Stadium, Grenada
March 2: 1st T20I – Sir Vivian Richards Cricket Ground, Antigua
March 3: 2nd T20I – Sir Vivian Richards Cricket Ground, Antigua
March 7-9: Three-day warm-up – 3Ws Oval, Barbados
March 12-16: 1st Test – Kensington Oval, Barbados
March 20-24: 2nd Test – Windsor Park, Dominica
