Mukesh Kanhai: Suriname coming to win Flex Night

President of the Suriname Bodybuilding and Weightlifting Federation, Mukesh Kanhai says that Mike Tyson once said that in the ring he threw punches “with bad intentions.” He was in similar combative mood about the mission of the Suriname Bodybuilding team coming to Guyana for the Flex Night International event on Saturday night at the National Cultural Centre. According to a release, Kanhai told Director of Flex Night Inc, Donald Sinclair that his army of bodybuilders will be coming to Guyana to win the Best Country trophy. Kanhai said that Suriname has chosen the best of the best at the Mr. Suriname bodybuilding event, and second place trophies are not part of their business. Judging from the four-man team that Suriname has selected to

Mr. Suriname 2012 Koese Soepe (Middle)

compete in Guyana, Kanhai has reason to feel confident. The Suriname bodybuilding team comprises the following: Mr. Suriname 2012, Koese Soepe (under 154 pound class); Jurgen Tjoekoemba (155-165 pounds class); Melvin Tolud (166-176 pounds class); Wendel Selmo Pawiro (over 176 pounds class). Soepe placed seventh in Madrid in the 2012 Arnold Classic out of a field of over 150 international bodybuilders.

The President confirmed that Suriname is also travelling with a large contingent of officials and supporters.  Three in the group are from Holland, Gisa ter Haar, the guest artiste, Andrew Houtveen, her husband and coach, and Rinus van der Zeijden, international fitness and bodybuilding coach.
