McDonald wins scrabble charity contest

National Champion Abigail McDonald won the inaugural Scrabblers Give-Back Charity Open on Sunday at the Malteenoes Sports Club.

McDonald won the maximum of six games following by Leon Belony in second place with five wins and one loss, while Yvonne Murray with four wins and two losses to her name captured third place. Both Belony and Murray lost to McDonald.

The tournament according to McDonald was a success and says that plans are already in train to ensure that next year’s is even bigger than this year.

Seven players contested the tournament: McDonald, Belony, Murray, Michael Benjamin, Orlando Michael, Wayne Cave, Fred Collins and Grace Hercules.

Also, as promised financial donations were presented to St. John Bosco Boy’s and St. Ann’s Orphanages. Sister Denise Lyttle collected for St. John Bosco Boy’s Orphanage while, Sheila Profit accepted on behalf of St. Ann’s Orphanage.

Meanwhile, GASP will close its calendar year with a Scrabble Scramble competition scheduled for Sunday, December 23rd at the Malteenoes Sports Club.
