Banks Malta Supreme Cycle Road Race in B/ce tomorrow

Berbice cyclists will tomorrow compete in the Flying Ace Cycle Club/ Banks DIH Limited inaugural Banks Malta Supreme 40-mile cycle road race.

The event will commence in front of the Banks DIH Limited New Amsterdam Branch at Main and New Streets, New Amsterdam, proceed to Adventure on the Corentyne before returning to Main and  New Streets for the finish.

Prizes will be awarded to the first six finishers in the Open category while the first two juniors’, the first two females,’ first veteran and first four beginners will also be rewarded.

Banks DIH Limited Sales Manager Joshua Torrezao hands over the sponsorship cheque to top Berbice cyclist Neil Reece while coach of the Flying Ace Cycle Club Randolph Roberts looks on.

The females will cover a distance of 10 miles while the remaining cyclists will go the full distance. Last Friday at the Banks DIH Berbice head office, Sales Manager, Joshua Torrezao stated that the sponsorship of the event was a part of the company’s way of giving back to the community especially at this festive season, adding that there are plans to make the event an annual one.

This is the second cycle race sponsored by the company for Berbice cyclists following the successful staging of the ‘Aqua Mist’ race earlier this year.

Coordinator of the event and coach of the club Randolph Roberts thanked Banks DIH for their continued assistance especially towards the club.

Roberts also thanked other sponsors who assisted the club throughout the year including Waterchris Hotel, Guyana Beverage Company, Hand-in-Hand Insurance Company Limited, Kings Jewellery World, the Guyana Police Force, A. Ally and Sons, Furniture World and Stretch ‘D’ Dollar Supermarket among others.
