Pride of Barbados

Caesalpinia pulcherrima commonly called Pride of Barbados or Peacock flower originates from the West Indies.

Pride of Barbados is like a dwarf Flamboyant tree; sometimes it is used as an informal attractive hedge plant and at other times as an individual shrub. This shrub with compound foliage and fine leaves which are ‘fern like’ has clusters of red or yellow flowers with a yellow margin in each petal, and bloom from the tips of the branches. There is also a bicolour variety.
