Jamaica patient shot to death at hospital

(Jamaica Observer) MAY PEN, Clarendon – Two masked gunmen on Monday night invaded the May Pen Hospital and killed a male patient as he slept. The dead man, identified as 37-year-old Adiff Washington, was reportedly shot four times in the head and the eyes.

Washington was admitted to the hospital on Sunday after he was shot while returning home from the Milk River Police Station, where he was due to report on condition of his bail.

He was recently charged for murder and kidnapping, a police source said.

The Jamaica Observer understands that Monday night two armed men went to the hospital minutes after 11 o’clock and held up the security guard at the entrance of the male surgical ward where Washington was admitted.

As one of the men stood guard, the other shot Washington, who was asleep, before escaping.

While no one else was reported to be hurt, the Observer was told that the security guard, other members of staff and patients were left in a state of shock.
