(Trinidad Express) Jamaica’s newest air carrier, Fly Jamaica, was affected yesterday after one of its aircraft sustained a windshield crack as it was departing the Norman Manley International Airport en route to New York, USA.
This was Fly Jamaica’s first cancellation since it began operations on February 14, Jamaican media reported. The airline was forced to return to the gate at the airport, 15 minutes into the flight.
The cause of the windshield crack was not immediately determined.
Fifty-six passengers, who were on Fly Jamaica flight B757 were being accommodated yesterday on a JetBlue flight. State carrier Caribbean Airlines (CAL) was also accommodating affected passengers who could not return on Fly Jamaica’s flight from John F Kennedy International Airport in New York, the Express was told yesterday.
The Jamaica Gleaner reported that plans were in place to have the cracked windshield repaired yesterday.
