Bajan police in huge ganja bust

(Barbados Nation) POLICE HAVE scored another breakthrough in the fight against the importation of illegal drugs with the seizure of more than 800 pounds of cannabis.

On Tuesday night, an operation, led by the Drug Squad with assistance from the Regional Security Service and the Coast Guard, resulted in the seizure of four bags of cannabis at Harrison Point, St Lucy, around 7:45 p.m.

Less than an hour later, they discovered another 13 bags of cannabis at Fryer’s Well, near Clinketts in the same parish, as well as an abandoned boat that had run ashore.

The total weight of the cannabis was 838 and a half pounds.

A man was reportedly shot in the incident, but up to press time his condition could not be ascertained.

No arrests have been made.
