Police Commissioner (ag) Leroy Brumell has confirmed the fatal shooting of a man outside the Cool Square Guest House in West Ruimveldt.
He gave the dead man’s name as Imtiaz Roopnarine, a resident of Mandela Avenue.
Brumell said that at the time of the shooting the man was leaving the guest house around 5:35 am when two men came up and opened fire. Based on what Brumell said, the men may have been after a gold chain Roopnarine was wearing at the time.
Roopnarine was shot in the mouth.
The body is at the Lyken’s Funeral Home.
