The West Coast Demerara Road Safety Association, the Police Traffic Department of D- Division and the Ministry of Public Works also participated.
The Government Information Agency reported that twelve of the signs were sponsored by the Ministry of Public Works and the remainder by the West Coast Road Safety Association.

West Coast Demerara Road Safety Association’s Shahab Hack told GINA that the Road Safety Council had been strongly advocating for the initiative due to the number of complaints from persons about not being able to see the turns.

Inspector Harper told GINA that last year December that there was an accident on the West Coast but investigations were fruitless because there were no houses in the vicinity nor did anyone witness the accident. He said that the Crane Highway is a dangerous bend and the traffic signs will help greatly.
