Toddler dies in Pomeroon house fire

A one year-old child was burnt to death when a fire of unknown origin gutted his home at Grant Everette-Regina, Lower Pomeroon River on Thursday night, police said yesterday.

The child was identified as Neo Blount, whose remains were found among the debris of his razed home.

The fire occurred around 10pm.

“Initial investigations have revealed that the child’s parents were aroused by a loud sound and saw the building on fire,” police said in a statement, while adding that the parents ran out of the building, which was destroyed.
Stabroek News was unable to make contact with the child’s relatives up to press time.
