Miners remanded on armed robbery, wounding charges

Magistrate Judy Latchman remanded two miners when they yesterday appeared in the Georgetown Magistrate’s Court to answer a joint charge of armed robbery.

The allegation against Orlando Allicock, 23, and Chavez Allicock, 21, is that on February 9, at Lot 33 James Street, Albouystown, being armed with a gun, they robbed Amanda Kyte of a quantity of jewellery, cash and a shoulder bag, valued $571, 016 in total.
They were not required to plead when the charge was read to them.

No facts of what occurred on the day of the incident were related in court.

Police Prosecutor Vishnu Hunt objected to bail, citing the nature of the crime. He further stated that the defendants work in the interior and there is a likelihood that they may not return to court.

The court also heard that on February 9, at Lot 33 James Street, Albouystown, Chavez Allicock unlawfully and maliciously wounded Wayne Kyte with intent to maim, harm and disfigure him.

No facts of what occurred on the day in question were related to court.

When asked if there were any objections to bail, the prosecutor noted that the accused had the armed robbery charged pending in court.

Both men were subsequently remanded until February 25, when their matters will be called again.
