The parliamentary opposition together with labour and civil society today held a picketing exercise outside the Marriott Hotel construction site. The demonstration protested the “unfair and discriminatory hiring practices by the contractors and AHI (the special purpose company set up for the hotel).” The disclosure that Guyanese are not working on the actual construction of the controversial hotel has sparked severe criticisms from several sections of society.
