Gold company administrator shot at Arakaka

Police say that at about 0300h. today, Administrator of Gold Mines Corporation Christopher Mann, 26 years, of Bon Fin, Brazil, was in a mining camp at Arakaka, NWD, when he was confronted by two men who demanded gold. A scuffle ensued during which he was shot to his body by the men who escaped.

Mann, police say, is presently at the Matthews Ridge Hospital, while efforts are being made to have him brought out to Georgetown.

Initial investigations have revealed that the armed security guard at the mining camp, who is attached to a private security service, is reported to have been attacked and his service .38 revolver and six rounds taken away by his attackers, police added.

Investigations are continuing.
