Man gets six years for robbing, wounding woman

A man was yesterday sentenced to six years in jail after being found guilty of robbing and wounding a woman.

Shawn Charles was found guilty by Magistrate Leron Daly, at the Georgetown Magistrates’ Court, of stealing a $40,000 gold chain, which was the property of Magnolia Frank on August 21, 2012, at D’Urban Backlands Squatting Area. Charles was also found guilty of unlawfully and maliciously wounding Frank with the intent to maim, disfigure or disable her.

Police Prosecutor Jumo Nichols told the court that during the robbery, Charles wounded Frank.

Charles was sentenced to two years imprisonment for robbery with violence and four years imprisonment for unlawful wounding.
