City Council appeals to public to stop dumping garbage

The Mayor and City Council has made another appeal to citizens not to dump garbage on roadsides, parapets and alleyways. The council, in a statement, said the solid waste management department is working to rid the city of the build-up garbage. Although several trucks are in the mechanical workshop because of an unavailability of spares, it said that all areas are receiving collection services.

The council noted that the garbage impedes drainage and breeds mosquitoes and other nuisances.  The vector control department has been monitoring certain areas and taking appropriate action.  The council urges all citizens to pay attention to the condition of their general surroundings and communities.
