In a release, PAHO said that last May, meetings were held between officials from the Ministry of Education and all head teachers in the Georgetown district and one of the many issues highlighted was insufficient waste disposal units.

PAHO answered the call to partner with the ministry and committed US$5,000 to facilitate the procurement of bins for schools within the Georgetown district. To date, 20 schools have benefited from this initiative, which has seen a total of 100 bins donated, it added.
