Doctors were up to press time last night working to save the hands of a 20-year-old man who was badly chopped during a robbery at Bachelor’s Adventure, East Coast Demerara.

A friend told Stabroek News outside the Accident and Emergency Unit of the Georgetown Public Hospital, that the young man was at a party in his home village when two men approached him. One pulled out a “chopper” from his waist and began firing chops at Haynes who used both of his hands to ward off the chops. As a result he sustained gaping wounds on both wrists. After snatching the chain he was wearing, the assailants rode off.
