A 92-year-old woman was this morning discovered dead, a stone’s throw away from her Cove & John, East Coast Demerara home underneath an abandoned house and it is believed that she was beaten and molested as the bottom half of her body was unclothed.
Millicent Prince of Public Road, Cove & John may have been on one of her regular early morning walks when she was attacked and killed.
Her body was discovered at around 5:30 this morning.
Residents told Stabroek News that the woman lives with her son but he works on the Linden-Soesdyke Highway and is away sometimes. They said that despite her age the woman was very energetic and ensured that she went for a walk every morning.
Residents said they heard nothing strange until an alarm was raised when the body was discovered by the occupant of the dwellling behind the abandoned house.
Police have cordoned off the area as they investigate the murder which has shocked residents.
