Boodhoo and Batson who were both unrepresented by counsel, pleaded guilty to the charge when it was read to them by Magistrate Judy Latchman, in the Georgetown Magistrates’ Court.

Boodhoo apologised to the court saying, “I’m very sorry and I won’t commit it again… I only began selling them four months ago.”

Boodhoo and Batson were fined $25,000 each or an alternative of six months imprisonment.

In the second case, it was alleged that Dwayne Smith, 32 of Diamond, committed the same offence on April 5, at Longden Street.

Smith pleaded not guilty to the charge and told the court that he does not sell at the stand.

He was just watching it for a friend when the police arrested him.

Smith was released on $20,000 bail and his matter will be called again on May 27.
