Chinese businessman shot during armed robbery

A Chinese businessman is currently hospitalized after he was shot during an armed robbery on Friday afternoon.

Police said in a press release yesterday that Shao Yang Dong aged 50 was shot in the right thigh.

The release said that around 1530 hours Dong was in his restaurant at Lamaha Street, Georgetown, when five men entered, two of whom were armed with handguns.

One of the armed men, according to the police, shot Dong after which the perpetrators took away an undisclosed sum of cash. They then held up a patron and took away his jewellery and cash and escaped.
Investigations are in progress.
