Magistrate Sueanna Lovell yesterday sentenced a mother and daughter to three years jail after they were found guilty of selling narcotics to an undercover police officer.
Bibi Abdul, 40, was found guilty of possession of narcotics on February 22, 2012 at Kitty, when she yesterday appeared in the Georgetown Magistrates’ Court. According to the facts of the case, the woman had 210 grammes of cannabis in her possession for the purpose of trafficking.
Bibi and her daughter Nadia Abdul, 18, were also found guilty of trafficking in narcotics on the said date after they were caught selling four grammes of cannabis to Police Lance Corporal Edu.
Both women reside at Lot 40, Dowding Street, Kitty.
The duo was caught during a police sting operation conducted in Kitty on the said date. They were found guilty and sentenced to three years imprisonment along with a $10,000 fine.
Bibi’s two three-year jail terms will run concurrently.
The matter was prosecuted by Police Sergeant Alexis David-Hossanah.
They were represented by attorney Adrian Thompson.
