Knowing the VC fails to help break-in accused

The fact that he had known the virtual complainant for some 20 years and she apparently said she also knew him also, did not help a man accused of house-breaking yesterday as he was remanded to prison.

O’Brian Bobb appeared before Chief Magistrate Priya Sewnarine-Beharry at the Georgetown Magistrates’ Court yesterday and was refused bail on charges of breaking and entering a house with the intent to steal.
Bobb is accused of entering the home of Geeta Sookraj on April 1 with the intention of stealing. He pleaded not guilty to the crime.

Sookraj allegedly caught the accused in her bedroom when she woke up.

Bail was denied for Bobb after the prosecution objected based on the nature of the offence and the punishment it attracts. Magistrate Sewnarine-Beharry then said that bail was refused due to the seriousness of the offence and its prevalence. The case was adjourned to May 20.
