Personnel sought for police forensics lab

The Ministry of Home Affairs has advertised vacancies for three Forensic Support Officers (Technical) to be attached to the Guyana Forensic Science Laboratory, University of Guyana Compound, Turkeyen.

According to an advertisement in yesterday’s edition of the Guyana Chronicle, these persons will assist in the routine analysis of exhibits, preparing and monitoring analytical reagents and conducting routine maintenance procedures on analytical instruments. These advertisements are mot placed in other sections of the press.

The advertisement said that the applicants must have at least five subjects at CXC General Proficiency Level or equivalent qualification and must include Mathematics, English Language and a science subject.

Those chosen will be given one-year contracts with the possibility of renewal. The advertisement said that the conditions of service are “negotiable”.

Applications should reach the ministry on or before May 17.

Of recent there have been a number of vacancies advertised for positions at the facility which is slated to be completed later this year. The police crime scene lab is expected to be relocated there once the building is completed.
