Accused’s statement to police admitted into evidence in Essequibo murder trial

Justice Brassington Reynolds yesterday ruled to admit the statement by murder accused Rudolph Williams into evidence at his trial, at the conclusion of a voir dire.

The statement Williams gave to police will officially be admitted in the main trial, which will begin on Tuesday during which the prosecution will call a number of witnesses.

Williams is on trial for the murder of Naomi Singh who he allegedly killed on May 1, 2009 in Essequibo.

He is represented by defence counsel George Thomas while Dhanika Singh and Natasha Backer are presenting the state’s case.
