Victims of Mahaica gas explosion still in hospital

Kishan Ramdat, the Unity, Mahaica fisherman and his two-year-old niece who were injured in a gas explosion on Sunday night are still in critical condition in the Burn Care Unit of the Georgetown Hospital.

Ramdat’s father, Samaroo, who spoke with Stabroek News, said that his son was scheduled to have surgery done yesterday. He told Stabroek News that his son was talking and responding to relatives. He said that Preity Mohammed, Ramdat’s niece is ‘coming around’.

Ramdat and Mohammed were burnt on Sunday night when a gas container exploded at their home. Ramdat was running past the child in attempt to escape the fire when the flames caught her.
