Accused gets $50,000 bail on ganja charge

Magistrate Priya Sewnarine-Beharry granted $50,000 bail to a 36-year-old man accused of having 8½ grammes of cannabis in his possession when he appeared in Georgetown Magistrates’ Court.

It is alleged that on June 5, at Georgetown, Troy Nedd had in his possession 8 ½ grammes of cannabis.

The fish vendor who resides at Third Field, Cummings Lodge, pleaded not guilty to the charge when he appeared in court on Friday.

Attorney Paul Fung-a-Fat in his bail application for Nedd said his client has no antecedents, posed no flight risk and had been cooperating with police.

Fung-a-Fat advanced that his client is innocent; citing that he knows nothing and that the alleged illegal item did not belong to him nor had he ever had any such thing in his possession.

Nedd was granted bail and ordered to appear in Court Five on June 17.
