Republic Bank sponsoring steelpan workshop

Republic Bank (Guyana) Ltd is sponsoring a Steelpan Workshop in collaboration with the Tina Insanally Foundation.

A release from Guyenterprise said that the workshop will be attended by 14 participants from the Foundation’s locations countrywide – Lovely Lass, West Coast Berbice, St. John Bosco, Plaisance, the Ruimveldt Children Centre, the St. Ann’s Orphanage and its main branch at Guyenterprise, Georgetown.

The release said that the facilitators are London-based Panologist Aubrey Bryan and Ivan Chapman from the North Ruimveldt Multilateral School. They will host five daily sessions from Monday, July 15th to Friday 19th, 2013 at Ivan Chapman’s North Ruimveldt Pan Workshop on Mandela Avenue, the release added.

The workshop will teach the History of Pan, how to select suitable pans, to sink drums, the smoothing and marking out of drums.
