Agricola accident victim died of broken spinal cord -autopsy

Spinal injuries caused the death of Shaune Bourne, who succumbed to injuries he sustained in a crash at Agricola on Sunday.

An autopsy that was done yesterday revealed that Bourne died as a result of a broken spinal cord.

He was among 17 persons who sustained injuries when the minibus they were traveling in slammed into the fence of the Alpha Hotel along the East Bank Public Road at Agricola, after it smashed into the back of another minibus while trying to avoid a car.

The accident occurred as the bus was transporting Bourne’s family to their home Dazzel Housing Scheme, East Coast Demerara, home after a family outing at Splashmins Resort.

Bourne along with his wife and children were among those hospitalised afterward. He succumbed on Monday. Three of the injured persons are still hospitalized and their condition as listed as stable, relatives said.
