The Berbice Bridge Company Inc (BBCI) on September 12, showcased the various careers at the bridge when it participated in a career day event organised by the Mahaicony Technical and Vocational Training Centre.
The BBCI in a release said a team of personnel including its operations manager and secretary/accountant presented and showcased the different career opportunities at the bridge.
Their presentation included videos on the operation of various parts of the bridge, flyers and a slide-show on the various jobs available and the qualification required. The BCCI personnel were also able to answer various questions asked by students.
At the end of the event, the BBCI was awarded a certificate of participation from the technical and vocational training centre.
The release reiterated that the BBCI does not only collect tolls and facilitate vehicles crossing the Berbice River Bridge and vessels transiting through the retractor span and under the high span, but also discharges its corporate social responsibilities.
BCCI has sponsored many educational, sports and other events that benefited communities on both the eastern and western sides of the bridge, many other coastal areas and the hinterland.
