Pedestrian dies on Parika Public Road

The police this afternoon said that investigations are being conducted into a fatal accident that occurred at about 0615h today on the Parika Public Road, East Bank Essequibo, which resulted in the death of pedestrian, Omar Hussain, 69 years, of no fixed place of abode.

Investigations, police say, have revealed that the driver of the motor car HC 664 was proceeding south along the road way, when it is alleged that the pedestrian ran into the right side front of the car and was struck down. He was taken to the West Demerara Regional Hospital where he was pronounced dead on arrival.

The driver of the motor car HC 664 is in police custody and charges will be laid shortly.
