The police say they are investigating a fatal accident which occurred at about 2200h. on Saturday October 05, 2013, on Spring Garden Public Road, Essequibo Coast, which resulted in the death of pedestrian Kumar Persaud 59 years, of Spring Garden, Essequibo Coast.
Investigations revealed that the driver of motor car HB 7329 was proceeding south along the roadway, when he was blinded by a bright light of a vehicle proceeding in the opposite direction. As a result, he ran over the pedestrian who was taken to the Suddie Hospital where he was pronounced dead on arrival.
The driver is in police custody assisting with the investigations.
