Contractor shortage hindering road works – Ramotar

President Donald Ramotar says that Cabinet has agreed to repair more than a thousand roads around the country but the lack of contractors is hindering the initiative.

During the People’s Progressive Party/Civic’s (PPP/C) celebratory rally on Sunday evening, the President told supporters that Cabinet has looked at plans to do work on many of Guyana’s roads.

Unfortunately though, there are few contractors in Guyana, President explained, and he added that the ones that we do have already have long list of projects they are already working on.

As such Ramotar said, there might be some deliberations on whether contractors should be solicited from Trinidad, Suriname or China.
