Cabinet okays $46.3M contract for police force data collection

HPS and Cabinet Secretary Dr Roger Luncheon on Wednesday announced that Cabinet green-lighted several contracts at its statutory meeting on Tuesday, including one valued over $46M in the security sector.

At his post-Cabinet press briefing, Luncheon said no objections were offered to the $46.3M contract for an Integrated Crime Information System (ICIS) for the Guyana Police Force’s data collection in regions Five and Six. A second contract in the security sector, valued $42.05M for the construction of the Colonel Ulric Pilgrim Officer Cadet School at Camp Stephenson, Timehri was also okayed, he said, according to a GINA report.

In the justice sector, no objections were offered for a $41.7M tender for the construction of a magistrate’s court at No. 51 Village in Region Six.

Two contracts in the housing and water sector were also given the go-ahead. One valued $17.95M for the procurement of construction services of community roads in Stewartville/Cornelia Ida in Region Three and the other for the procurement of construction services of community roads in Plaisance/Industry. The second tender is valued $7.9M.

In addition, no objections were offered for a $17.4M tender in the agriculture sector for the construction of living quarters and an office for NAREI and for the upgrading of extension services in Monkey Mountain, Region Eight.

And, in the education sector, no objections were offered for a US$100,000 contract for consultancy for management study of the human resources at the University of Guyana.
