Hinterland electricity operators trained

Twenty-nine hinterland operators two Fridays ago graduated from a three-week course in network operations, primarily transmission and distribution, at a ceremony held at the Guyana Power and Light’s Sophia branch.

In his charge to the graduates, Prime Minster Samuel Hinds encouraged them to read and expand their knowledge as the just-concluded training was only the first phase in a wide field in electrification education. Hinds further told them that another way to augment their learning is to teach others in their respective communities what they gleaned from the training and to practice those skills at their current jobs, a Government Information Agency (GINA) press release said.

According to GINA, the training focused on identifying and understanding transmission distribution and safety and was organized through a collaboration between the Office of the Prime Minister (OPM) and GPL.
