Kabakaburi man badly chopped during row

A man from Kaba-kaburi, Upper Pom-eroon River, Region Two, is now a patient of the Suddie Public Hospital after he was brutally chopped on Sunday around 11.30 pm. His assailant is in police custody.

According to reports, Fazil Lyte was involved in a row with a man from the same community, when he was badly chopped about the body.

Orin Thomas, a councillor of the community told Stabroek News that Lyte had left his home to go the shop to buy cigarettes. When he got there he began consuming alcohol with some other men.

An argument ensued between the man and Lyte which led to the chopping. Judith Lyte, the wife of Fazil, told this publication that Fazil was taken home after the incident and was in an unconscious state. She and some other persons then took him to the Charity Hospital. However, because of the severity of the injuries, he was transferred to the Suddie Public Hospital. Lyte sustained chops about his body and had to undergo a surgery. Meanwhile, the accused assailant was arrested and is in police custody at the Charity Police Station.
