At about 2130h last night, police say that miner Vivian La Cruz, 31 years, of Zeeburg, WCD, who was a prisoner at the Acquero Police Station, NWD, was found hanging from a metal bar in his cell by one of the legs of his pants. He was the only prisoner in the lock-ups at the time.
Police said that La Cruz had been arrested at about 1700h yesterday following a report made against him of unlawful wounding committed on his girlfriend at Kwebana, NWD.
The body is at the Charity Hospital Mortuary awaiting a PME. Investigations are in progress.
