Mother of 6 missing since Boxing Day

A 33-year-old mother of six has been missing since Boxing Day after she allegedly left home to visit her mother.

Deodat Singh of Number 3 Village, West Coast Berbice (WCB), reputed husband of the missing woman – Omwattie Balram, a housewife – said that he last saw his wife on December 26. He said that when she did not return home by the next day, he went to the police station to make a report but was told that he needed

to wait 72 hours before he could file a missing person’s report.

Singh said when he checked with the woman’s mother she told him that Balram never arrived at her house on Boxing Day. Singh said he has since searched every conceivable place for his wife to no avail.

When asked if he knew of any reason why Balram would leave without saying where she was going, Singh said he could not think of any. He also said that she has never done anything like this in the past, and is convinced that she would not willingly leave without a trace, especially since they have six children together.

Yesterday he made the journey to Georgetown to file a missing person’s report at the Brickdam Police Station and took time out to report the matter to Stabroek News. He is pleading with anyone who has knowledge on the whereabouts of his wife to contact him at 621-1540, or the nearest police station.
