Dear Editor,
On the mall between Cummings Street and Light Street, but closer to Light Street, there stands a big tree with its lower inner trunk burnt out down to the root. This hollow tree could topple at any time in high wind. A wire is attached from the tree to a power-pole located at the junction of Light Street and North Road. Not so far away from the tree there is a bench on which people sit as they relax on the mall.
In the interest of public safety, I am appealing to the authorities concerned to have this hazardous tree removed urgently.
