Dear Editor,
It is an instructive contradiction that in the print media of Sunday, May 26, 2013 there appeared a news item of this country’s representative at an international forum addressing the subject of “Indigenous Peoples” ‒ in legitimate conformity with the relevant provision in the Constitution of Guyana; while an ‘Invitation to Bids’ was published by the Ministry of “Amerindian Affairs” on another page.
All stakeholders must enquire into the implication of this fundamental discrepancy, and why the matter is not addressed as a priority by the National Assembly.
