Attention needs to be paid to the Charity school dormitory

Dear Editor,

Special attention has to be placed on the Charity school dormitory. I was the one along with others who always used to advocate such an institution. This has become a reality and the dormitory was established in Charity in 2012.The children from the riverbanks and the Amerindian communities stay over for weeks, with the government providing meals and other amenities. Now there is a new development with some of the kids acting abnormally, scaling the dorm fence and doing funny things. They sometimes run onto the road and have the entire village in total chaos.

There needs to be stronger support given to the dorm mother, in addition to which a dorm father should be employed to look at the boys too. The matter of meals and snacks should also be looked at so as to ensure the children are well nourished.

The security guards need a guard hut, and should not use the dorm living quarters for their security point. In addition, all staff bags and other bags entering in and out of the dorm compound should be searched.

Yours faithfully,
Andrieko Basir
