Chattergoon ton puts GT&T Berbice in firm control

Former West Indies opener Sewnarine Chattergoon hit an impressive century as Guyana Telephone and Telegraph (GT&T) Berbice closed the second day of the Guyana Cricket Board (GCB) senior four-day Inter-County match against the President’s XI at the Demerara Cricket Club (DCC) ground on 267-3.

The President’s XI had earlier been bowled out for 182 on day one.

Chattergoon and fellow opener Richard Ramdeen built a solid opening stand of 87 runs on a flat DCC pitch.
Ramdeen hit five fours and two sixes before he was leg before wicket to Collis Butts for 47.

Chattergoon and Assad Fudadin then took the score to 163 with a second wicket stand of 76.  Fudadin, after hitting two fours, was bowled by Raj Nanan but Chattergoon soon brought up his half century with a boundary off the same bowler.

His half century took 114 balls and came up in 145 minutes. Chattergoon dominated a third-wicket stand of 93 with Gajanand Singh. The left-hander from Albion eventually reached his century off 313 balls before he was caught off Butts for 114 an innings which contained 11 fours and four sixes.
