Scrabble players in action today

The Guyana Association of Scrabble Players (GASP) will stage its first tournament for 2013 today at the Malteenoes Sports Club.

GASP’s Public Relations Officer (PRO) Moen Gafoor said the association is hoping to attract between 15 to 20 players including a number of its members Fred Collins, Orlando Michael, Colin Chichester, Grace Hercules, and president Leon Belony. Gafoor himself will also be participating.

Vice President of the association and current national champion Abigail McDonald will however, not be participating as she is out of the jurisdiction.
Cash prizes will be awarded to the top three finishers while the best player outside the top 10 will also receive cash prizes.

Each participant is expected to pay an entrance fee of $700 but persons arriving before the 9:45hrs registration time will be eligible for a $200 discount.
