GCA first, second division cricket matches postponed

Last week-end’s matches of the Georgetown Cricket Association/Hadi’s World Incorporated first-division two-day competition and the Noble House Seafood’s second-division, two day competition were postponed due to heavy rainfall on Friday.

Chairman of the Competitions Committee of the GCA, Shawn Massiah, told Stabroek Sport yesterday that the matches will be postponed to at least the 16th and 17th of January owing to the unavailability of umpires this Saturday, the date for the GCA’s annual general meeting.

In the Hadi’s division one competition, Demerara Cricket Club (D.C.C) was scheduled to play Guyana National Industrial Corporation (G.N.I.C) in Queenstown, while Police Sports Club (P.S.C) was to oppose Malteenoes Sports Club at Eve Leary and Transport Sports Club was scheduled to visit the Guyana Defence Force (G.D.F) at Camp Ayanganna.

In the second division competition, Police Sports Club was to meet with Transport Sports Club at the Gandhi Youth Organization ground. In the other Zone A match, Third Class was set to travel to the Muslim Youth Organization ground to face the Vikings while in the lone Zone B fixture, the Georgetown Cricket Club was scheduled to play against the Guyana Defence Force at the Guyana National Industrial Corporation (G.N.I.C) ground.
