March 15 is deadline for nominations for GFF presidency

A new executive to manage the affairs of football in Guyana will be elected on April 12 when the Guyana Football Federation (GFF) holds its annual general meeting and election of office bearers.

However, associations affiliated to the GFF have until March 15 to submit their nominations to the federation.

According to information reaching this newspaper a Memorandum was sent to the GFF affiliates on Wednesday informing them of the decision.The GFF has until April 15h to hold elections according to an agreement reached with a FIFA/CONCACAF delegation which visited Guyana in January.

According to the memo seen by this publication the posts up for re-elections are for the president, three vice presidents and two executive committee members.

The current incumbents according to the document are: President Colin Klass (on FIFA suspension) Franklin Wilson (Acting President), Vice Presidents Carlos Prowell and Dwayne Lovell while the executive committee members are Aubrey Major and Vanessa Dickenson. Dickenson is the acting Vice President replacing Wilson who was the most senior of the three vice presidents. According to the memo the posts that will be up for elections and their term limits are set out hereunder:

1. for two (2) year term: – President, Vice President and one (1) Executive Committee Member; and

2. for a four (4) year term: – Two (2) positions of Vice President and one (1) position of Executive Member.

The document stated that Members are also hereby invited to submit any Motions and Amendments which they wish to be considered by the Congress and these should reach the GFF Secretariat on or before 15th March, 2013, by the close of business at 16:30 hours.
