Fudadin misses ton as Guyana reach 225-7

GEORGETOWN, Guyana,  CMC – West Indies batsman Assad Fudadin missed out on his third first class century as Guyana rallied against Combined Campuses and Colleges in their sixth round match here yesterday.

The left-hander fashioned a composed 87 to help steer the hosts to 225 for seven at the close of the opening day of the first Regional Four-Day Championship contest staged at the National Stadium at Providence this season.

Sent in, Guyana had lost their way at 43 for three before Fudadin stablised the innings with a couple of small partnerships and then a 91-run sixth wicket stand with debutant wicketkeeper Anthony Bramble.

Fudadin counted seven fours and a six off 263 balls while the 22-year-old Bramble, who played three one-day matches three years ago, finished the day on 37 not out.

Off-spinner Ryan Austin claimed three for 72 while left-arm seamer Raymon Reifer picked up two for 28.
Guyana were rattled early on, losing Rajendra Chandrika caught behind off fast bowler Kesrick Williams for four in the fourth over at six for one.

Fudadin and Leon Johnson, who made 24, put on 36 for the second wicket before two wickets fell for one run to leave Guyana on 43 for three.

West Indies batsman Ramnaresh Sarwan joined Fudadin to add 47 for the fourth wicket, a stand that took Guyana to lunch at 81 for three.
Sarwan, dropped on one off Williams, recovered to stroke 28 before he was caught and bowled by Reifer, fending at a short ball.

Fudadin then combined with Steven Jacobs (28) to put on 41 for the fifth wicket before Jacobs was lbw to Austin with tea approaching.
