GAPF Intermediate, Masters c/ships set for UG Campus

The University of Guyana’s campus will be transformed into a battle ground for powerlifters tomorrow when the Guyana Amateur Powerlifting Federation (GAPF) stages its annual Intermediate and Master’s Championships.

The Masters Championships will feature what should be an exciting match up between World Masters Two Champion and dead lift record holder Winston ‘Little Master’ Stoby and the 2011 World Masters One Bronze medalist and 2009 Pan American open heavyweight gold medalist John “Big John” Edwards.

Stoby and Edwards will be using the event to warm up for the upcoming Pan American Championships as well as the World Masters Championships later in the year.

Tomorrow’s meet will also give the lifters who failed or who were late at the Novices another chance at redemption.

Clubs and individual lifters participating are once again reminded that they must register with the Organizing Secretary, Denroy Livan between 08:00hrs and 16:00hrs or call 226-1553. Timely registration will allow for the smooth functioning of the event.Weigh in time is 07:30hrs to 08:30hrs.
