Caramel Secondary win on penalty kicks

Carmel Secondary edged Brickdam Secondary 3-1 on penalty kicks as action in the Digicel/Powerade National U18 Schools Football championships continued at the Ministry of Education ground, Carifesta Avenue yesterday.

Unable to find the back of the net through their talismanic forward Marlon Nedd, Carmel held their nerve in the ultimate lottery to book their spot in the next round.

Six goals by Javel Stevens in the second, 38th, 44th, 49th, 78th and 82nd minutes piloted Leonora Vocational Institute to 12-0 hammering of Goed Fortuin Secondary at the Den Amstel ground, West Demerara.

Jamal Bentick registered a double in the fifth and 42nd minute for the victors while solo strikes from Miguel Williams, Richard Blackette and Alex Moore in the 23rd, 27th and 89th minutes padded the lopsided score line.

An own goal in the 14th minute set the tone for the lopsided encounter.

Over at the Skeldon ground in Berbice, Skeldon High School defeated Corentyne Comprehensive Secondary 3-0. Safari Efua and Marvil Fubick netted in the 10th and 75th minutes respectively while an own goal in the 80th minute sealed the win for Skeldon High.
