posited “We started a little late but things are going well. We are concentrating hard on the new batch of juniors and a lot of help is being provided by the assistant coaches in trying to get them tournament ready”.

“Presently we are using the Racquet Centre to train as the Georgetown Club is under renovations and we are thankful to them because without them we would have been struggling. Fitness training occurs in the earlier part of the week while squash specific training occurs on Thursday, Friday and Saturday”, noted Ince.

Questioned about the criteria that will be used to select the team, Ince stated that individual performances and results at upcoming tournaments will be the determining factor on who will be chosen.

“Even though we have an idea on who might be a part of the team, we are basing the selection process on individual performances” added Ince

Asked about his expectations for the team, Ince noted “We are expecting our usual performances. We are on course as everything is going according to plan. Currently the emphasis is being placed on simulating game situations”.

According to Ince while individual accomplishments are noteworthy, the importance will always be placed on the overall success of the team.

“More emphasis will be placed on securing the team title. Individual titles are great but the focus will clearly be on Guyana winning”, said Ince

Questioned as to the factors behind continued Guyana’s dominance on the Caribbean circuit, Ince said “Talented players, stability at the coaching post and good management and cooperation from all the concerned”.
