Colts, Ravens face off in basketball first division title final

Colts Basketball Club defeated Pepsi Sonics Basketball Club by a 68-53 score line in their first division matchup as action in the Georgetown Amateur Basketball Association (GABA) Tier 1 Playoffs commenced at the Cliff Anderson Sports Hall, Mandela Avenue on Friday.

Dane Kendall led the Colts offence with 17 points. He was ably assisted by siblings Shelroy and Sheldon Thomas who netted 15 and 13 points respectively. Jason Squires scored a game high 22 points in a losing cause for the Mandela Avenue side.

Dynas Ravens through an Akeem Kanhai 17-point effort defeated Trinity Grid Holding (TGH) Pacesetters 74-57 in the final first division playoff fixtures. Ryan Stephney scored a game high 25 points for the losing TGH Pacesetters unit.

In the third division playoffs, East Coast unit Buxton United pummelled Colts by a 43-29 score line. Trevor Freeman led all scorers with 12 points in a winning cause. Evan Johnson netted nine points for the losing Colts side.

TGH Pacesetters earned a walkover victory over Pepsi Sonics in their third division matchup to advance to the final.

Action concludes today at the same venue with TGH Pacesetters opposing Buxton United in the third division final and Dynas Ravens battling Colts for the first division title. In an exhibition encounter, Kwakwani High School will face off with West Side Jammers.
